This week, the Trump-appointed Supreme Court ruled that it’s not okay for private or public institutions to level the playing field for people of color with affirmative action, but they also ruled that it IS okay for private institutions to discriminate against the LGBTQIA community. On this last day of Pride month, I’m just pledging to do my part to keep fighting for equity, to keep fighting to make this society we can be proud of. (Also, Cas is gay.)

Okay!! So, we figured something out recently that probably should have been obvious, given all the informative posts we’ve read about it, but we somehow didn’t fully absorb the information and process what it actually means, so in an attempt to pass on this info to those in similar situations to us, we’re gonna be specific in this post!! Are you ready?

    • The average (and ideal) amount of pain a person should be in at all times is zero.
    • This means you should not be feeling pain in your hands
    • Or in your feet
    • Even if it’s just from time-to-time.
    • If expecting pain in your hands and/or feet has become normal to you, that is not ideal and almost definitely counts as chronic pain.
    • (no, btw, you don’t need a complicated condition with a long name to have chronic pain. Chronic pain is just any pain that has lasted – even if on-and-off – for three months or longer. You can have chronic pain with simple causes like muscle spasms or carpal tunnel. Don’t dismiss your pain just because you don’t have a condition with such a long name it gets simplified to an acronym, or anything like that.)
    • (That said, it might be because of a condition, so if you don’t know or at least heavily suspect the cause of your pain, maybe bring that up to a doctor or whoever you can.)
    • If you experience frequent pain in your hands and/or feet, you should know that is not normal and not everyone deals with that.
    • This is your permission slip to go look up ways to reduce your pain
    • And then use those ways.
    • Wrist/ankle braces. Compression socks. Compression gloves. Hot water. Hot water bottles. Painkillers like Tylenol and Advil. Whatever.
    • You don’t deserve your pain just because it’s become normal to you.
    • You deserve to live a life with as little pain as you can.
    • The average (and ideal) amount of pain any person – including you – should be in at all times
    • Is
    • Zero.
